I checked the unit and found that a temporary Wi-Fi drop had stopped reporting updates; the battery itself was fine. After restarting the router and waiting ten minutes, the readings returned. That taught me to check the physical status lights before assuming something expensive had failed.

What I appreciate most is the simple routine now. I glance at the app before making dinner, and on sunny afternoons I often start laundry or charge the vacuum while solar is plentiful. The battery is not magic, and I still watch consumption during long cloudy stretches. Still, it has made our solar investment much more useful after sunset. I would install storage again, especially for anyone whose utility plan has steep peak pricing and enough daytime sun to fill it.

One practical change was learning how much reserve capacity our household actually needs. At first I kept the reserve at 40%, worrying that a storm would arrive unexpectedly. That protected us, but it also meant less solar available for evening use. After tracking two months of outages and weather forecasts, I lowered it to 25%. So far, that balance has worked well: we have enough emergency power for the refrigerator, modem, several lights, and a fan, while using more of the stored energy every day.

I also learned that battery performance depends on placement. The garage gets warm in the afternoon, so I added ventilation fan, not blowing directly into the enclosure. The operating temperature now stays lower during July heat. I clean the inverter vents monthly and keep boxes away from the equipment. These are boring chores, but they take minutes and give me confidence that the system is being treated properly.
