I installed a 10kWh LiFePO4 battery storage system last spring, mostly to stop sending cheap midday solar power back to the grid. My utility charges nearly three times more during the evening peak, and that difference was becoming ridiculous. Installation was easier than I expected. An electrician mounted the battery beside my inverter, added a new breaker, and connected it to my existing rooftop solar array. The clearest difference showed up on my first full bill. It dropped by about 35 percent, or roughly $62, even though our household habits had not changed. I do still pay a small connection charge, and cloudy weeks reduce the savings, so I am not pretending this battery makes electricity free. It simply lets me use more of what my solar panels already produce.
One minor scare happened during a hot afternoon. The app showed the battery at 100 percent, but the house was pulling from the grid. A router update had broken the inverter connection; rebooting both fixed it in ten minutes. Since then, I keep the monitoring network separate. That lesson matters.
