I installed my home solar battery system last spring, and the biggest change has been moving evening electricity use away from the grid. Our utility has a higher rate from 4 to 9 p.m., and my bill dropped by roughly $65 in the first full month. It is not a dramatic zero-dollar bill, because winter clouds and fixed connection charges still count, but the reduction is real. I also notice less anxiety when cooking or running laundry after sunset.
I had one small troubleshooting moment after a firmware update: the inverter stopped discharging at the scheduled time. The battery itself was fine; the time zone had reset, so the peak schedule was shifted by an hour. I corrected it in the app, restarted the inverter, and everything returned to normal.
After several months, the lithium battery still reports nearly its original usable capacity. For me, the value is not just backup power during an outage. It is using my own solar energy later, reducing peak-hour purchases, and making the household energy routine feel much more predictable.
