I installed my home battery last spring after watching too much of my solar power disappear back to the grid during the afternoon. The only hiccup came during a cloudy weekend. The battery reached 12%, then stopped discharging even though the house was using power. I initially assumed the battery had failed, but the app showed a reserve setting I had accidentally left at 15%. Lowering the backup reserve to 10% restored normal operation. That small troubleshooting moment taught me to check settings before blaming the hardware.
I also appreciate that the battery keeps essential circuits running during short outages. The refrigerator and internet stay on, while I avoid loads like the oven. After months, my takeaway is simple: the solar battery saves money by using stored electricity when grid rates peak, and it has been quiet and predictable. I would recommend sizing the battery around your evening consumption, not your panel capacity.
