Solution Solar Inverter
I installed a 10 kWh solar battery last spring, and it changed my evening routine. Before the battery, I watched my electricity meter climb after dinner: oven, dishwasher, heat pump, and lights all running together. I was using expensive grid power during the exact hours when rates were highest.
The installer fitted the inverter, battery cabinet, and monitoring app in one day. My system uses lifepo 4 batteries with rooftop solar, and I particularly like seeing the live charge flow.
My first full month made the savings obvious. On sunny days, solar charged the battery before lunchtime. After 4 p.m., the battery supplied most of my household load until bedtime. My utility bill dropped from about $185 to $112, even though our usage was similar. That was roughly $73 saved, mostly through peak-hour energy shifting. I do not treat the app's estimated savings as gospel, but the meter readings tell the same story. I now run the washing machine and dishwasher after sunset without feeling like I am wasting money.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. During a cloudy week, the battery stopped discharging at its normal rate. The monitoring app showed a warning about reserve settings. I had accidentally raised the backup threshold while exploring the controls. After lowering it again, the battery resumed normal operation within a few minutes. It reminded me that solar storage is not completely set-and-forget.
Overall, the best part is control. I use less grid electricity, avoid the worst peak prices, and have backup power for short outages. I would size the battery carefully rather than simply buying the largest model, but my current solar battery setup has already made home energy feel much more predictable.
