During a recent three-day rainy spell, the battery reached only 42 percent, and I made a small mistake by scheduling the dishwasher for midnight. It started during the cheap tariff, drained the reserve, and left us buying power before breakfast. I changed the backup reserve from 20 to 35 percent and now keep that setting for winter.

Friends often ask me "how long can a lithium battery last" before capacity fades. I cannot promise a number, but our warranty is ten years, and the manufacturer rates it for daily cycling. After eight months, usable capacity still looks normal. That reassurance makes the investment easier.
