Running my home battery system through two summers has changed the way I think about electricity. Before adding storage, my rooftop solar panels sent plenty of power back to the grid during the afternoon, then I bought expensive electricity after dinner. The biggest improvement has been shifting that surplus into the evening.

On a normal weekday, my evening usage used to push the utility bill noticeably upward. Since storage went in, I have seen roughly $35–$50 per month reduction, depending on weather. My monthly bill is not zero, but the expensive 5–9 p.m. window is now mostly covered by stored solar energy.
The only real hiccup came during a cloudy week when the inverter stopped discharging overnight. I initially blamed the lithium battery, but the display showed a low discharge limit caused by a conservative temperature setting. After my installer adjusted it and I moved a draft blocker away from the cabinet, it has worked normally since. I still glance at the battery monitoring app every few days, mainly to catch anything before it becomes a problem.
For me, that quiet reliability matters more than chasing maximum backup capacity or fancy online features.
