Solution Solar Inverter
Running my solar battery through a full summer has changed the way I think about electricity. Before installing it, my rooftop panels mostly helped during daylight, while our evening cooking, laundry, and air conditioning still pulled expensive grid power. I chose a 10kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and paired it with a growatt inverter on grid setup.
Installation went smoothly. The battery went in my garage beside the panel, and the crew finished in one day. They added a backup circuit for the refrigerator, internet, lights, and a few outlets.
The difference shows up between 4:00 and 9:00 p.m. My utility’s peak rate is painful, so the battery now charges from solar after breakfast and discharges once the panels stop producing. On weekdays, I see 6–8 kWh of household use supplied by stored energy. My monthly bill dropped from around $180 to $95 during the first month, although weather and usage vary. That saving feels more tangible than the app’s graphs: running the dishwasher after dinner no longer feels like wasting money.
I did have one troubleshooting moment. After a firmware update, the battery stopped discharging at my programmed evening time. I noticed because the grid import number rose unexpectedly. I power-cycled the inverter, checked the time zone in the monitoring app, and found it had reset to daylight saving time. Fixing that setting restored normal operation, and support confirmed the change the next morning.
I am not claiming complete energy independence. On cloudy days, the battery empties before bedtime, and winter production is lower. Still, solar self-consumption is noticeably higher, peak demand is lower, and short outages no longer interrupt our evening routine. The best compliment I can give this home energy storage system is that I rarely think about it now. I just check the state of charge and enjoy a smaller bill.
