Running my home on solar power changed noticeably after I added the growatt 7000tl3s 51.2V Battery to my existing rooftop system. Before the battery, my panels produced plenty during the afternoon, but most of that extra energy went back to the grid. In the evening, when we cooked, used the heat pump, and charged devices, I was buying electricity at the most expensive time.
The setup itself was easier than I expected. My installer mounted the lithium battery in the utility room, connected it to the Growatt inverter, and configured the energy management settings around our time-of-use tariff. I chose a backup reserve of about 20 percent, so the battery normally discharges during peak hours but still keeps some emergency capacity.
The biggest difference is on ordinary weekdays. By around 5 p.m., the solar panels are no longer producing much, but the battery starts covering the house load. It usually powers the refrigerator, lights, Wi-Fi, television, and kitchen appliances through the evening. On sunny days, we often reach bedtime without drawing much from the grid. My monthly electricity bill has dropped by roughly 30 percent compared with the same months before installation. The exact savings vary with weather and heating use, but seeing less peak-rate consumption is satisfying.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. The battery stopped discharging after a firmware update, even though the monitoring app showed a healthy state of charge. I power-cycled the inverter as recommended by the installer, waited several minutes, and restarted it. Normal operation returned, and it has been stable since.
What I appreciate most is not just the battery capacity, but the routine: solar energy fills the battery during the day, and stored energy carries us through the expensive evening period. It has made our home energy use feel more predictable, while giving our solar investment a much more practical everyday role.
