growatt 3kw hybrid inverter LiFePO4 Battery

Running my growatt 3kw hybrid inverter LiFePO4 Battery setup has changed how I use electricity at home, especially during the expensive evening hours. I installed the system mainly to store excess solar power during the day and avoid buying as much electricity from the grid after sunset.

My usual routine is simple. The solar panels charge the LiFePO4 battery through the afternoon, while the house uses whatever power it needs. Around 4 p.m., when our electricity rates become higher, the hybrid inverter starts supplying the lights, refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and television from the battery. On a normal evening, the battery carries most of our basic load until about 10 or 11 p.m. I still use grid electricity occasionally, but my evening consumption has dropped noticeably.

Before installing the solar battery storage system, my monthly bill was usually around $180 during the hotter months because of air conditioning. After adding the battery energy storage system, my bill has typically fallen to between $110 and $130, depending on the weather. I am not claiming the battery eliminates the bill, but shifting solar energy into peak hours has made a clear difference. The best savings happen on sunny days when the battery reaches full charge before dinner.

I did have one minor troubleshooting moment during the first week. The inverter stopped discharging the battery overnight, even though the monitoring app showed plenty of stored energy. I eventually found that the backup output setting had been left in a mode that reserved power for outages. After changing that setting and restarting the inverter, normal discharge resumed. It was frustrating, but the issue was configuration rather than faulty hardware.

So far, the system has been quiet, predictable, and easy to monitor. I check the battery state of charge from my phone most mornings, and the practical benefit is seeing less grid dependence during the hours when electricity costs the most.
