Running my home battery system for six months has changed the way I think about electricity. Before installing it, I watched my solar panels send cheap afternoon power back to the grid, then bought expensive electricity after dinner. I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. After a hot day, the app showed the battery at 100 percent, yet the house was pulling some grid power. I discovered the backup reserve setting had been changed during a firmware update. Restoring my preferred schedule fixed it within minutes. Since then, I check the energy monitor weekly rather than obsessing over every kilowatt-hour.
For me, the value is less about chasing total energy independence and more about shifting solar power into expensive evening hours. The battery has made our household costs steadier and our backup power more reassuring.
