Voltage was the first thing I watched after my solar battery installation, although I quickly learned that everyday savings mattered more than impressive app graphs or technical specifications on paper.
My installer fitted an eve 25p battery beside the inverter in the garage, with a clean cable run and a simple explanation of its time-of-use charging schedule and app controls.
The useful change was immediate: instead of exporting cheap afternoon solar power, I stored it and ran the dishwasher, heat pump, and lights from that energy during expensive evening hours.
Before battery storage, our electricity bill jumped whenever we cooked after work. Now the battery covers most of that peak period, and I notice the difference each month quite clearly.
On cloudy days, I am less impressed, naturally. Solar generation falls, so the battery begins the evening only partly charged; however, its monitoring app makes that limitation easy to understand.
My best savings came from changing one setting rather than buying extra panels. I set a minimum reserve, then allowed the battery to discharge during peak-rate hours instead of protecting capacity.
I did have a minor troubleshooting moment in December. The battery stopped discharging overnight, and the app showed an unhelpful warning about communication with the meter for several hours.
I restarted the system from its isolator, waited, and checked the meter connection. Nothing dramatic was wrong; a brief router outage had interrupted the monitoring link, not the battery itself.
Once Wi-Fi returned, the readings synchronized and normal discharge resumed. That experience made me value local controls and installer support more than flashy promises about energy independence alone on paper.
Overall, solar battery storage has not eliminated my electricity bill, but it has made our home cheaper to run and less exposed to peak prices. That practical benefit feels real.
