I also set a backup reserve of 25 percent, because I would rather keep lights, refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and the garage door available during an outage than squeeze out the last few dollars of savings.

One minor troubleshooting moment came during the hot week. The inverter showed a battery-temperature warning, and charging stopped. I found a vent blocked by a storage box, moved it, and normal operation returned after the battery cooled. I now keep that area clear and check the temperature reading weekly. That experience taught me not to treat energy storage as completely hands-off. For me, the deye 6k setup is worthwhile because it covers dinner, evening appliances, and outages. The savings are tangible, but using solar power feels best.
