Solution LiFePO4 Battery Cell
Every evening, after the sun drops behind our house, my solar battery takes over without me touching anything. I installed a deye 30kw hybrid inverter with roughly 30kWh of lithium storage last spring, mainly because our electricity rates jump sharply between 4pm and 9pm. Before that, I was sending most daytime solar back to the grid and then buying it back at the expensive evening rate.
At first, the change was surprisingly boring—in a good way. The inverter switches from grid to battery quietly, and the house keeps running normally: refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, and even our heat pump. I set a 20% reserve in the battery settings, so it does not completely drain overnight. On a sunny day, the battery is usually full by early afternoon. We use that stored solar after dinner, and during cloudy stretches it still carries the important loads until bedtime.
The financial difference shows up most clearly on the utility bill. Our evening consumption used to be the expensive part, especially when cooking and running the dishwasher. Since adding the energy storage system, our monthly bill has fallen from about $210 to $95 on average. It is not a perfect comparison because weather changes, but the peak-hour savings are obvious. The battery is doing more than giving us backup power; it is shifting our solar production to the hours when electricity costs the most.
I did have one small scare in January. The battery stopped discharging and the monitoring app showed a communication warning. I power-cycled the battery and inverter, checked the cable connections, and updated the firmware. It came back within ten minutes. Since then, I have left the settings alone and check the app once every few days rather than obsessing over it.
The deye 30kw system feels practical, quiet, and worthwhile at home.
