Solution Solar Battery DIY Parts
Every evening, I used to watch my electricity meter climb as soon as the household switched on the oven, dishwasher, and heat pump. Since installing my deligreen solar battery, that expensive window has become much less stressful. My 10 kWh battery charges from the rooftop solar panels during the day, then supplies power through the early evening when grid electricity is usually at its highest price.
The biggest difference shows up on ordinary weekdays. Before the battery, our solar export looked good, but we still bought plenty of electricity after sunset. Now the battery usually covers dinner, lighting, television, and most of the evening heating. On sunny days, I often reach bedtime without drawing much from the grid. My daily bill has dropped by roughly 35–45% compared with the same months last year, although cloudy weather obviously reduces the savings. I pay more attention to our energy usage now, but I do not feel like we are constantly rationing power.
I did have one small troubleshooting moment during the first month. The battery stopped discharging one evening even though the app showed plenty of stored energy. After checking the settings, I found that the backup reserve had been set unusually high during installation. The system was protecting that reserve instead of helping with our evening load. I lowered the reserve to a level that made sense for our home, and the battery immediately resumed normal operation. That simple fix also taught me not to treat the monitoring app as something I would never need to understand.
The most practical benefit is predictability. I can see the solar generation, battery state of charge, and grid consumption in the app, and I have a much better idea of what our power bill will look like. It has not eliminated electricity costs, especially during long stretches of rain, but the battery storage system has made our solar investment noticeably more useful every day.
