Most evenings, I used to watch our electricity meter climb as soon as the sun went down. Since adding a 10 kWh LiFePO4 solar battery to our home system, that routine has changed noticeably. I charge the battery from rooftop solar during the day, then use it for cooking, lighting, Wi-Fi, and the heat-pump circulation pump during expensive evening hours.
The biggest difference shows up on our bill. Before storage, our family regularly imported power between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., when the tariff was highest. Now the inverter switches to battery mode automatically, and our peak-hour usage has dropped by roughly 70–80 percent. In summer, we sometimes finish the day with enough stored energy to run the refrigerator and security system overnight. Our monthly bill is not zero, but it is usually $45–$65 lower than it was before the battery, depending on weather and air-conditioning use.
I was initially nervous about monitoring the battery because the app used technical labels that were not very clear. One search even brought up the phrase “bms смарплатlifepo4,” which looked like a scrambled product keyword rather than useful help. In practical terms, the battery management system has worked well. It shows state of charge, temperature, charging current, and cell protection status, and it has stopped charging during the few very cold mornings when conditions were outside the recommended range.
One small annoyance happened after a router restart: the monitoring app showed the battery as offline, although the battery was still powering the house normally. I rebooted the gateway, waited five minutes, and the connection returned. Since then, I have relied more on the inverter display than the app.
For me, the real benefit is quieter evenings and less dependence on peak electricity prices. The solar battery has not eliminated grid power, but it makes our daily energy use feel far more predictable and manageable.
