After installing my home solar battery last spring, I noticed the biggest difference during the evening peak period. Before the battery, my solar panels stopped helping as soon as the sun went down, exactly when cooking, laundry, and heating pushed our electricity use higher. I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. The inverter stopped discharging the battery one evening, even though the monitoring app showed plenty of stored energy. I found that the battery temperature sensor connection had loosened slightly after some cable work. Reseating it solved the problem, and the system resumed normal operation within a few minutes.
The best part is not watching the app; it is using solar power after sunset without thinking about peak pricing. I still keep some grid power available, but my solar battery now handles the daily cycling quietly and reliably.
