Solution Solar Inverter
Night rates used to be the part of my electricity bill I dreaded most. Between 5 and 9 p.m., our heat pump, induction cooker, and washing machine could turn an ordinary evening into the expensive part of the day. That changed after I added an anern solar energy storage battery to my rooftop solar system.
The installation was less disruptive than I expected. The installer mounted the battery in the utility room, connected it to the inverter, and set the energy management app to prioritize self-consumption. I watched the battery charge from excess midday solar instead of sending everything back to the grid. By sunset, it was usually around 90 percent, which felt reassuring on cloudy days too.
The biggest practical difference is peak-hour savings. At about 5 p.m., the house automatically switches to battery power. I don't have to think about turning appliances off or checking rates; the system simply uses stored solar energy. My monthly utility bill has fallen by roughly $70 during the warmer months, when the air conditioner runs hardest. In winter, the saving is closer to $35, because shorter days leave less energy to store. Those numbers are based on comparing bills from the same months last year, not a promised estimate.
I did have one small troubleshooting moment. After a firmware update, the app showed the battery at 100 percent all afternoon, but the inverter was still pulling a little power from the grid. I restarted the gateway and waited ten minutes; the charge and discharge schedule returned to normal. Support replied the next morning, confirming it was a temporary communication hiccup, not a battery failure.
I check the app weekly, mostly to see what solar remains after our evening use. The battery has made our solar investment feel much more useful every day.
