Choosing a home battery was less about chasing independence and more about stopping my evening electricity bill from jumping every summer. I live in a small house with rooftop solar panels that produce plenty during the day but used to waste that extra energy once the sun went down.

I found the inverter's time zone had reset, so its time-of-use schedule was shifted by an hour. Resetting the location and restarting the charge controller fixed it.
Since then, I check the battery weekly, keep its vents clear, and may expand the system before winter storms if electricity prices keep rising.
