2,400-watt inverter became the most useful part of my setup.
I installed a 12v 400ah lithium ion battery last spring.
My goal was surviving expensive evening electricity rates without babysitting.
The battery sits beside the inverter in my laundry room.

Once configured, the solar battery charges whenever sunlight is available.
I set it to power the house after sunset automatically.
That simple schedule made the biggest difference to my bill.
Before storage, my oven, lights, and television pulled from grid.
Now the battery handles those ordinary loads through peak pricing.
On a typical weekday, solar fills it by late afternoon.
I usually see the inverter switch to battery around four.
Our utility's costly window runs until nine, so timing matters.
The first month, I compared bills rather than trusting estimates.
Savings averaged about thirty-five dollars, varying with weather and cooking.
That amount feels modest, but it repeats every month consistently.
During cloudy weeks, I still had enough evening backup power.
During bright weeks, excess solar rarely went back unused either.

I did have a minor troubleshooting moment during summer.
The app showed charging, but the battery percentage stayed frozen.

No hardware repair was needed, thankfully, just better configuration knowledge.
That experience taught me to verify readings before blaming equipment.
I clean the panels regularly and keep vents unobstructed nearby.
So far, the lithium battery has required almost no attention.
I am considering another battery later, but have no urgency.
