Solution Solar Inverter -
Solution LiFePO4 Battery Cell
2 winters ago, I installed a 10kWh lithium battery beside my inverter, mainly to stop buying expensive evening electricity. The difference was obvious from the first full week: our solar panels exported most of their best energy while we were at work, then the heat pump, induction cooker, and water heater all ran after sunset. Now I set the system to charge from solar first and discharge during the utility's peak window.
My monthly bill fell from roughly $186 to $104, though weather and usage vary, so I am not pretending every month delivers the same result. The nicest surprise is how quiet and boring the battery is; I check the mobile app once or twice, see the state of charge around 70 percent in the morning, and get on with my day.
I did have one small setup headache involving my camper backup circuit and a 12v 50a dcdc charger lithium battery dcdc connection. The charger kept dropping out whenever the battery voltage dipped, which initially looked like a faulty solar battery. After checking the cable length, fuse, and ground, I found a loose negative terminal. Tightening it solved the problem immediately, and the DC-DC charger has been dependable since.
That little fault taught me more than the glossy installation brochure: battery connections matter, and a lithium battery needs sensible low-voltage protection and correctly sized wiring. I also appreciate having backup power during short outages. It is not whole-house independence, but the refrigerator, internet router, lights, and a few outlets keep running without me dragging out extension cords.
For me, the real value is predictable peak-hour savings rather than bragging rights. I am considering another battery module eventually, but for now this solar storage setup fits our routine, reduces grid dependence, and quietly pays for itself one evening at a time without any daily fuss.
