Running my solar battery for the past eight months has changed the way I think about electricity bills. Before installing it, I used to watch the utility app climb every evening when our rates jumped. Now my rooftop solar panels charge the home battery during the day, and I use that stored energy after dinner.
The biggest difference shows up between 4:00 and 9:00 p.m. Those were the expensive hours, especially when the oven, heat pump, and washing machine ran together. Lowering the reserve restored normal operation, and the manufacturer’s support chat confirmed nothing was wrong. I now leave a 20% reserve for outages and avoid changing settings casually.
The system is not completely invisible: I occasionally hear the inverter fan, and I check battery state of charge before a storm. Still, it has been practical rather than complicated.
