Keeping my evening electricity bills down was the main reason I installed a solar battery, and after six months, the biggest surprise has been how much calmer our household energy use feels. My rooftop solar system already covered most daytime demand, but we used to buy expensive grid power between dinner and bedtime. The battery now stores midday generation and discharges automatically during those peak hours.

My only hiccup happened during a heatwave. The battery stopped discharging at full output, and the monitoring app showed a temperature warning. I checked the garage ventilation, moved a few boxes away from the unit, and called the installer. It resumed normal operation that evening after cooling down. Since then, I have left more space around it and reduced the discharge rate slightly.
Rainy days still need grid power, but solar feels useful. The best part is simple: I am using more of my clean energy instead of selling it and buying it back expensively.
