Having a solar battery changed the way I use electricity more than I expected. Before installing it, I sent most of my midday solar production back to the grid and then bought power again during the expensive evening hours. Now, my battery stores that afternoon energy and runs the house after sunset.
The biggest difference shows up between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. I used to avoid the oven, washing machine, and air conditioner during that period because our peak electricity rate was painful. With the home energy storage system, I can use stored solar power instead. On clear summer days, my evening grid usage is almost zero. My monthly bill has dropped by roughly 35 to 45 percent, depending on the weather and how much cooling we need.
I also appreciate the battery’s reserve setting. I keep about 20 percent capacity untouched, so the system can provide backup power during an outage. The one minor annoyance happened during setup. My installer finished the wiring, but the monitoring app would not show battery charge levels correctly. I restarted the gateway and reconnected the Wi-Fi, but the readings still lagged. Support updated the firmware remotely the next morning, and the problem disappeared. Since then, the solar battery monitoring has been reliable.
