I installed a 10-kWh lithium deep battery beside my inverter last spring, mainly to stop buying expensive electricity during evening peak hours. Before that, my rooftop solar panels sent plenty of power back to the grid at lunchtime, then I pulled it back at the worst possible rate after dinner.
The installation was honestly less dramatic than I expected. I did have to move a few shelves because the unit needed clear space around it. That small preparation was the only inconvenience.
What I notice most is the change in my evening routine. Once the solar battery reaches its charge target, it powers the refrigerator, lights, router, and television automatically. I also run the dishwasher after sunset without thinking about the tariff. On sunny days, the battery usually carries us until around midnight, and the grid takes over quietly afterward. During cloudy stretches, it runs down earlier, so I am not pretending the system makes me completely energy independent.
The savings have been practical rather than spectacular. My evening electricity use fell noticeably, and my monthly bill dropped by roughly 25 to 35 percent compared with the same months last year, although rates and weather vary. I like seeing the app show battery state of charge and solar production, but I trust the meter more than colorful estimates when calculating savings.
I had one minor troubleshooting moment in July. The battery stopped discharging at 6 p.m. because the inverter had switched to backup-only mode after a brief grid flicker. The app showed no serious fault; I restarted the operating mode after the grid stabilized, and normal discharge returned that night. That experience reminded me that battery storage is not entirely set-and-forget, but it has been dependable enough to recommend for a home with suitable solar exposure and a clear peak-rate difference.
