Solution LiFePO4 Battery Cell
I installed my solar battery storage system last spring after watching my electricity bills climb every summer. The part I cared about most was using my own rooftop solar after sunset instead of sending it back to the grid for a small credit.
I chose a 10kWh LiFePO4 battery and paired it with a hybrid inverter. The installation took most of a day. My installer mounted the battery in the garage, ran new conduit, and set the system to charge from solar first. It was not completely painless: the monitoring app initially showed the battery offline, even though the inverter was working. We found a loose communication cable, fixed it, and the readings have been stable since.
Each evening, the battery takes over around 6:30, when our utility rate jumps to the peak tier. I run the refrigerator, lights, router, and dishwasher from stored energy, then recharge the following afternoon. During sunny months, I usually reach bedtime with 25–35% remaining. That reserve has been useful on cloudy days, when solar production is weak.
On average, my evening grid consumption fell by roughly 7kWh. Before the battery, my summer bill was about $180 monthly; after installation, it has hovered near $115, though weather and utility fees still move the number around. The biggest saving is not dramatic on one day, but it adds up across an entire billing cycle.
I also like the practical visibility of the lifepo4 battery bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth app lets me check state of charge from the driveway, and I can see whether solar input, load, or grid charging is active without opening the inverter cabinet. During one outage, I noticed the battery stayed online and powered our internet equipment, although I had to manually restart the router.
For me, my battery makes solar useful after dark, daily.
