It is not a dramatic “free electricity” situation; the battery cannot create energy, and cloudy days still require grid power. However, shifting solar energy into the evening has been much more valuable than exporting every extra kilowatt-hour for a small credit.

I did have one minor scare. During a brief outage, the battery did not power the refrigerator immediately because the backup circuit had not been enabled in the app. A quick call to the installer fixed the setting, and the next outage switched over within seconds. Since then, the battery backup has kept our fridge, Wi-Fi, lights, and a few outlets running without drama.

After several months, my takeaway is simple: battery storage works best when it matches your household schedule. For me, this solar battery is less about energy independence and more about reliably avoiding expensive evening rates every day.
