growatt 1500s inverter

Running my solar battery through a full summer has changed how I think about electricity bills. Before installing it, I used most of my solar power during the day and sent the rest back to the grid for a fairly modest credit. In the evening, when our household actually needed energy, we bought electricity at the higher peak rate. The battery has made that timing problem much less painful.

My setup uses a 10 kWh home energy storage battery paired with a growatt 1500s inverter. Installation was easier than I expected. The installer mounted the battery in the garage, connected it to the inverter and existing solar panels, and configured it to charge during the day. I set the system to discharge between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., which covers cooking, lighting, television, and the first part of our overnight usage.

The biggest practical difference appears on hot weekdays. Our air conditioner usually runs after work, exactly when grid prices rise. Previously, a single evening could add several dollars to the bill. Now the battery supplies most of that demand. During the first month, our electricity bill dropped by roughly 25 percent compared with a similar month the previous year. I know weather and usage vary, so I am not treating that number as a guaranteed saving, but the reduction has been consistent.

I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. After a brief outage, the inverter app showed the battery as offline even though the house still had power. I restarted the monitoring connection and waited about ten minutes; the status returned to normal. The battery itself never stopped working, which was reassuring.

I am especially happy that the system quietly manages solar charging and battery discharge without daily attention. I check the monitoring app occasionally, mostly to compare grid imports and solar self-consumption. For me, the value is not just backup power; it is using more of my own renewable energy and avoiding expensive peak-hour electricity.
