Once we had solar panels installed, I noticed the biggest weakness wasn't generation—it was sending unused electricity back to the grid for a small credit, while buying power again after sunset. I like seeing the battery state of charge fall gradually instead of watching the meter spin upward during dinner.
The clearest savings showed up during peak hours. Before storage, I regularly paid roughly $0.31/kWh from 4–9 p.m. After adding the battery, my evening grid consumption dropped dramatically. My monthly bill went from around $185 in summer to about $105, although weather and usage vary. That isn't a perfect apples-to-apples comparison, but the difference is obvious on the utility statements.
I did have one small troubleshooting moment. One morning, the app showed the battery at 6% even though the house had been quiet overnight. I found the backup reserve setting had been changed during a firmware update. I restored it to 20%, restarted the inverter, and everything returned to normal. Since then, I check the app once a week rather than obsessing over it.
For me, the value of this solar battery is practical rather than flashy. It gives me better energy independence, uses more of my own solar power, and makes outages less stressful. I still keep realistic expectations: it won't eliminate every bill, and battery capacity will gradually degrade.
