Solution Solar Battery DIY Parts
On the first evening after my home battery was installed, I kept checking the app like a nervous parent watching a sleeping baby. My solar panels had always covered most daytime use, but before adding energy storage, I sent a lot of cheap afternoon electricity back to the grid and bought it back during expensive peak hours.
The forster battery changed that routine immediately. From about 4:00 p.m., it usually carries the refrigerator, lights, Wi-Fi, and our induction cooker until bedtime. I set a 20% reserve for outages, so I am not squeezing every possible kilowatt-hour out of it. On sunny days, the battery reaches full before lunch, and our evening grid consumption is nearly zero. The difference on my bill is most noticeable in winter, when heating overlaps with peak pricing. My monthly bill dropped by roughly 35 to 45 dollars, depending on weather and how often we cook at home. That is not a dramatic promise from a brochure, just what I have seen across several statements.
There was one small scare in the second week. The app showed the battery at 2% even though the forecast predicted sun. I discovered the backup reserve had been disabled after a firmware update. I turned it back on, raised the reserve to 20%, and contacted support. Since then, it has behaved normally, and the inverter has quietly shifted charging and discharging around our household schedule. I also appreciate that the battery is wall-mounted in the garage, rather than taking up floor space.
For me, the biggest benefit is not total energy independence; it is avoiding that irritating evening price spike. I still check the state of charge occasionally, but I no longer think about every cloud passing overhead. The system simply does its quiet job most days.
