After years of watching my electricity bill climb during summer afternoons, I finally added a lithium battery to my home solar setup. The unit I chose is a batterie lithium fer phosphate 12v 100ah battery, paired with an inverter and rooftop solar panels.
The installation was less dramatic than I expected. My electrician mounted the battery in a ventilated utility cupboard, connected a battery management system, and programmed the inverter to charge from solar first and discharge between 4:00 and 9:00 p.m. That timing has made the difference to my daily bills.
Before storage, I sent excess midday energy back to the grid and then bought power while cooking dinner or running the air conditioner. Now the solar battery covers that evening window. On a typical sunny day, it supplies roughly 5 kilowatt-hours before reaching its reserve level. My peak-hour usage has fallen noticeably, and my monthly bill is usually 25 to 35 percent lower than last summer, despite using the air conditioner more often.
The most reassuring part is how quietly it works. I check the monitoring app with my coffee, but otherwise forget it is there. Once, after several cloudy days, the battery stopped discharging at sunset. I initially blamed the inverter, but the app showed the reserve had been set to 30 percent for backup protection. Lowering it to 15 percent restored normal evening discharge, and I kept the higher setting afterward when a storm was forecast.
I am not claiming energy independence: winter production is weaker, and the battery still needs grid support occasionally. Still, this lithium-ion phosphate storage has made my solar investment feel more practical. The saving is visible, the backup reserve gives me peace of mind, and I would happily add another module if my evening demand grows.
