After three years of watching my solar panels send cheap midday power back to the grid, I finally added a home battery last spring. My choice was 280Ah LiFePO4 setup built around the basen 280ah eve cells. I wanted usable capacity, not another gadget with an app I would forget.

I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. After a cloudy weekend, the inverter showed a low battery temperature warning and stopped charging. I found the sensor cable had loosened slightly inside the cabinet. After shutting down safely, reseating the connector, and restarting the system, charging resumed normally.
For me, the real win is predictability. Solar power charges the battery, battery power covers peak hours, and the grid only fills the gap. I am not trying to live off-grid; I simply want lower bills and fewer surprises.
