Keeping my electricity bill down was the main reason I installed a home solar battery, not because I wanted a complicated smart-home project. It was not a serious fault, but I was glad I had chosen an installer who answered the phone instead of leaving me with a confusing app.
The battery has not eliminated my electricity bill, and I still watch cloudy-day forecasts before running major appliances. However, solar self-consumption is much higher now, and I feel less exposed to peak electricity rates. For me, the practical value is simple: store daytime solar power, use it after sunset, and let the battery quietly reduce the household’s dependence on grid electricity.
