The biggest practical difference is my evening routine. We run the dishwasher, cook dinner, and use the heat pump from stored energy instead of pulling from the grid. Before storage, my average evening usage pushed the daily bill noticeably higher. In the first month with the battery, our bill fell from about $168 to $96, despite similar weather and habits. Saving roughly $72 monthly makes the investment feel real.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment during a cloudy week. The battery stopped discharging at 18%, even though I expected it to run lower. The app displayed a backup reserve setting. I had accidentally raised it while exploring the controls. Lowering the reserve to 10% fixed everything, and the next evening it supplied power normally. I appreciated that the battery kept a safety margin.
After several months, the capacity remains consistent, and I rarely think about it. The app is useful for checking solar production and battery state, though I care more about the monthly bill than flashy charts. For my home, this solar energy storage setup has made nighttime electricity cheaper and more predictable. I would choose the battery again, although I would ask more questions about reserve settings before touching them.
