Getting home after sunset used to mean checking whether the grid had returned before running the washing machine. Since installing my solar battery storage system six months ago, I have stopped planning evenings around power cuts and peak rates. The change is small but noticeable: my rooftop solar charges the battery during the day, and it carries our house through the expensive evening window.

I assumed something was broken, but the app showed the battery had reached its reserve limit. I adjusted the discharge setting slightly, and it has behaved normally since.

For me, the best part is quietly using stored solar energy during expensive hours. I may add another battery, but this system fits our needs very well.
