Solution Solar Battery
Every evening, I check my battery dashboard almost out of habit. Since installing my deye solar system last spring, I have stopped worrying so much about expensive evening electricity rates. During sunny hours, my rooftop panels charge the lithium battery, and after dinner the house runs mostly from stored solar power.
The biggest change shows up on my bill. Before the battery, I used to run the dishwasher, heat pump, and washing machine whenever they were needed, even during peak hours. Now I leave those jobs for late morning or use the battery in the evening. My monthly bill has fallen from roughly $180 to $70 during the warmer months. It is not a perfect number every month, because weather and utility charges vary, but the difference is obvious. The battery usually carries us from about 4:30pm until bedtime, which is exactly when I wanted the most help.
I did have one small troubleshooting moment in the first week. The system stopped discharging at the scheduled time, although the app showed plenty of charge. I found that the backup reserve setting had accidentally been raised during setup. Lowering it restored normal operation immediately. That experience taught me not to blindly trust a default setting; I now check the battery reserve, inverter schedule, and time-of-use rate plan after any firmware update.
What I appreciate most is the quiet, boring reliability. There is no fuel, no daily maintenance, and I barely notice the wall mounted battery in the garage. During a short outage, it switched over quickly enough that the refrigerator and Wi-Fi stayed on, although I have not tested heavy loads during a long blackout.
For me, the solar battery is less about energy independence slogans and more about shifting ordinary household use away from the most expensive hours.
