Solution Solar Battery DIY Parts
Energy bills used to be the part of summer I dreaded most. Last year my air conditioner ran through the afternoon, and even with rooftop solar, I was still buying expensive electricity after sunset. This year I added a deligreen lifepo4 battery, and the difference has been noticeable.
My routine is simple: solar fills the battery during the middle of the day, then the battery carries the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and lights after the sun goes down. I set the system to avoid grid power from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., which is when our utility charges the most.
My bill dropped by about 28 percent compared with the same month last year. Seeing less grid usage during peak hours was satisfying. On sunny days, I finished the evening with 35 percent charge remaining. I know weather affects comparisons, so I am not claiming the battery paid for itself overnight.
There was one small scare during the second week. The battery stopped discharging, even though the app said it had power. I checked the breaker, but nothing looked wrong. After messaging the installer, I learned the inverter had switched into a standby mode after a brief grid flicker. Cycling the system off and on restored normal operation, and I have not seen the problem again. I appreciated that the fix was simple, though I wish the app had explained the status more clearly.
For me, the biggest benefit is not independence from the grid; it's using more of the solar power I already produce. I now run the dishwasher before bed without watching the clock, and the house feels less vulnerable to evening price spikes. If you are considering storage, I would start by checking your utility's peak rates and actual evening consumption. That is what made the battery worthwhile in my home.
