0ver the first month with my solar battery, I paid much closer attention to when electricity was being used than I ever had before. My rooftop solar array already covered daytime loads, but the battery changed my evening routine.

Setup was less dramatic than I expected: the installer mounted the inverter and battery beside my utility panel, connected the monitoring app, and walked me through charge limits and emergency backup settings.

The useful part started after sunset. On sunny days, the battery reaches roughly 95% before dinner. It then runs the refrigerator, Wi-Fi equipment, lights, and sometimes the heat pump until morning. My utility bill dropped by about $65–$90 each month during summer, mostly because I stopped buying grid power during the highest-rate window. I still import electricity on cloudy days, so the savings are not identical each month.

The monitoring app is helpful but not perfect. One evening it showed the battery at 40% even though the house had used very little energy. I checked the inverter and found a loose communications cable after a panel inspection. Reseating it restored the correct reading, and the battery continued powering loads normally. That small scare taught me not to rely only on the app; I now glance at the inverter LEDs too.

For practical performance, the LiFePO4 battery has been quiet, cool, and predictable. I have not noticed meaningful capacity loss after one season. It powers essentials, though not my oven and dryer together. That limitation keeps my expectations realistic at home.
