How to Connect JK BMS to a Victron Inverter
How to Connect JK BMS to a Victron Inverter
Follow these simple steps to connect your JK BMS battery to a Victron inverter using the Victron CAN bus communication protocol. The same setup also supports multiple batteries connected in parallel.
JK BMS to Victron Connection Overview
The Master battery communicates with the Victron inverter through CAN. Additional batteries communicate with the Master through RS485.

Step-by-Step Setup
Complete the following settings before connecting the communication cable.
Set the Master Battery Address to 0000
On the Master battery, set the JK BMS address to: 0000
This battery will act as the Master battery for communication with the Victron inverter.

Select the Victron CANbus Protocol
Open the JK BMS mobile application or computer software and locate the CAN protocol setting.
Set the CAN protocol to: 004-Victron_CANbus
Connect to BMS-CAN or VE.CAN Port
Use the official Victron Type-B communication cable to connect the CAN port on the JK BMS to the BMS-CAN or VE.CAN port on the Victron inverter / GX device.

Let the Victron Inverter Detect the Battery
After the CAN cable is connected to the BMS-CAN or VE.CAN port (configured to 500 kbps), the Victron inverter will automatically detect the battery.
No additional battery communication configuration should be required on the inverter for this basic setup.
Connect Multiple Batteries in Parallel
When multiple batteries are connected in parallel, assign a unique communication address to each battery.
Set the battery addresses in sequence: Master 0000 → Slave 1000 → Slave 0100 → Slave 1100 → ...
Connect the batteries to each other using RS485 communication. The Master battery communicates with the Victron inverter through CAN.
Victron Displays One Battery Bank
When multiple batteries are connected in parallel, the Victron inverter will treat them as one battery system.
Therefore, the Victron interface will display one battery bank, rather than displaying each individual battery separately.
Important: Check the Cable Labels
CAN communication cables are not necessarily interchangeable. When connecting a JK BMS to a Victron inverter, use the appropriate Victron Type-B cable and make sure the connector labels match the intended ports. Incorrect cable wiring or pin assignment can result in communication failure.
How Does a Parallel Battery System Work?
Understanding the Master and Slave communication structure makes multi-battery installation much easier.
Master Battery
The Master battery uses address 0000 and is responsible for communicating with the Victron inverter through the CAN bus.
Slave Batteries
Each additional battery is assigned a unique address such as 1000, 0100, 1100... Slave batteries communicate with the Master through RS485.
Communication Structure
Slave batteries → RS485 → Master battery → CAN → Victron inverter
Victron Display
The Victron inverter sees the parallel batteries as one battery system and displays the combined battery bank rather than individual batteries.
Connection Complete
Once the Master address, CAN protocol, cable connection, and parallel battery addresses are correctly configured, the JK BMS battery system can communicate with the Victron inverter through CAN bus.
JK BMS & Victron CANbus FAQ
Common questions about connecting JK BMS batteries to Victron inverters.
What address should the JK BMS Master battery use?
Set the Master battery address to 0000.
Which CAN protocol should I select for Victron?
In the JK BMS app or computer software, select 004-Victron_CANbus.
Which cable should I use to connect JK BMS to Victron?
Use the appropriate official Victron Type-B CAN communication cable. Check the labels on both ends before connecting the cable.
Can I connect multiple JK BMS batteries in parallel?
Yes. Set the Master address to 0000 and assign unique sequential addresses to the Slave batteries, such as 1000, 0100, 1100, and so on. Connect the batteries through RS485.
Will Victron show every battery separately?
No. When multiple batteries are connected as a parallel battery system, Victron displays the system as one combined battery bank.
Which CAN port and baud rate should I use on Victron?
Connect the cable to the BMS-CAN or VE.CAN port on the Victron GX device / inverter, and set the CAN port baud rate to 500 kbps (500K).
Does Victron need to be manually configured to detect the battery?
With the correct JK BMS CAN protocol, BMS-CAN / VE.CAN connection (500 kbps), the Victron inverter will automatically detect the battery system.
